Pengertian Causative Verb

Causative verb adalah kata yang digunakan untuk menunjukan bahwa subject tidak bertanggung jawab langsung terhadap aksi yang terjadi melainkan seseorang atau sesuatu yang lain yang melakukan aksi tersebut.

Penggunaan dan Rumus Causative Verb

Kalimat causative verbs terbagi nejadi 2 macam, yaitu active dan passive causative. Pada kalimat active causative verbs, agent (yang mengerjakan aksi) diketahui. Sebaliknya, pada kalimat passive causative verbs, agent biasanya tidak disebutkan.

Let, Make, Have dan Get merupakan causative verbs yang umum digunakan. Fungsi dan rumus let, make, have, dan get sebagai berikut :

Let	Membiarkan seseorang melakukan sesuatu	Active: S+let+agent+action verb (bare infinitive)+...
Make	Memaksa atau sangat meyakinkan seseorang untuk melakukan sesuatu	Active: S+(make-made)+agent+action verb (bare infinitive)+...
Have	Menginginkan seseorang mengerjakan sesuatu untuk subject	Active: S+(have-had)+agent+action verb (bare infinitive)+object Passive: S+(have-had)+object+action verb (V-3)
Get	Mirip dengan have namun dengan struktur kalimat yang berbeda	Active: S+(get-got)+agent+action verb (to infinitive)+... Passive: S+(got)+object+action verb (V-3)

Contoh Kalimat  Aktif Causative Verb :

1. Luna got her bedroom cleaned

2. The manager makes her staff work had

3. Lauren had her friend take her result test.

4. My father lets me choose my own future carrier

5. The president is making his cabinet member sign his document

6. Putra had a tooth filled

7. Never let her go, or you will regret forever

8. I had my sister take that ball

9. My mother lets me choose my own car

10. The shepherd lets his sheep graze in the meadow.

Contoh Kalimat Pasif Causative Verb :

1. The boy got his cat to chase a mouse

2. She got the assignment submitted five minute ago

3. He had his book returned as soon as possible

4. I have your computer fixed

5. Arif got the money saved in the bank

6. We are going to have our car fixed before we go to Jogjakarta

7. I had my house renovated last week

8. Raka had his car washed

9. Some student will get their report checked

10. I had my car cleaned yesterday
